As the year 2024 draws to the eighth month, the ancient town of Nawfija, nestled in the heart of Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State, is gearing up for a grand celebration. From December 26th, 2024, to January 2nd, 2025, Ndi Nawfija will converge on their hometown for a grand festive fiesta.
This bi-annual mass return, a cherished tradition, brings together sons and daughters of Nawfija from far and wide. The atmosphere will be electric, filled with laughter, music and merriment as families reunite, old friendships are rekindled, and new ones forged.
The festivities will feature a range of activities, including honouring/celebration of senior citizens, cultural performances, football/volleyball tournaments, traditional dances, launching of Nawfija developmental plan and mouth-watering local delicacies, etc. The town's streets, clans and villages will be adorned with vibrant decorations, adding to the excitement and joy of the season.
This year's celebration promises to be even more spectacular, with various events and activities planned to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Nawfija. It's an opportunity for Ndi Nawfija to reconnect with their roots, celebrate their identity, and strengthen community bonds.
As a son of Nawfija, I invite the general public to join us in this festive fiesta. Come and experience the warmth and hospitality of Ndi Nawfija. Let us come together to make this Yuletide season a memorable one.
Date: December 26th, 2024 - January 2nd, 2025
